Does Tulsa have a downtown area?

Downtown Tulsa has neighborhoods such as the Arts District, Blue Dome, Cathedral District, Deco District, East Village, and Greenwood that are surrounded by a ring of highways. Only about 5,000 people live downtown, but there are plans to double that in the next 10 years.

Attractions include Art Deco buildings, museums like Greenwood Rising and the Bob Dylan Center, concert venues like the BOK Center, minor league baseball, second tier soccer, and the Tulsa Performing Arts Center. Read more about Tulsa neighborhoods in and around downtown.

The two most luxurious and historic hotels are Tulsa Club (Hilton Curio) and Mayo Hotel (family owned). The Ambassador Hotel (affiliated with Marriott’s Autograph Collection) is another top pick just south of downtown.

Is downtown Tulsa walkable?

You bet! Historic downtown Tulsa is very walkable because its different districts are compact and adjacent.

You can walk from Arts District’s Dylan Center to Greenwood Rising in five minutes and from Greenwood to the Deco District in 15 minutes. In fact, our Tunnel Tour, Art Deco Tour and Arts District Tour (coming spring ’24) are all walking tours because it’s easy to get around by foot.
